Interest Areas:

  • Small animal surgery
  • Abdominal ultrasound
  • Emergency medicine.

Career Highlights:

  • Completing my Accelerate Emergency Training program at Animal Emergency Service in Brisbane.

Most Memorable career moments:-

Recently removing a sewing needle from the trachea of a Labradoodle puppy named Lexi via bronchoscopy. In confirming the position of the needle on radiographs we happened to also identify a large rock in her stomach and this was removed surgically the next day. She was a very unlucky puppy but made a full recovery and has strict instructions to stop ingesting foreign objects in the future!

Most of the surgeries I have done to remove gastrointestinal foreign bodies have been extremely satisfying. Seeing a very sick dog or cat make a full recovery from a life threatening condition that is treated surgically is very rewarding.

Personal Hobbies:-

  • Getting outdoors, enjoying nature
  • Kayaking
  • Beach swimming
  • I am also a keen golfer and a big sports fan.

Number 1 on my bucket list:-

Listing just one is far too difficult! I love travelling and experiencing new cultures. Travelling to Alberta and British Columbia in Canada is high on my list of places to visit. I would also love to go to a Rugby World Cup final, I think the atmosphere would be incredible. Playing Pebble Beach golf course in the US is also high up on my list.

Treasured Moments:-

  • Going on safari and camping out in the wilderness in South Africa and Kenya as a kid really sparked my interest in animals and made me want to become a vet.
  • Getting married to my wife Sarah and celebrating with our family and friends in the Tweed Valley in 2019
